Get Your Anti-inflammatory On with Turmeric

Do you have a favorite way of eating tumeric?

Turmeric, a spice used traditionally in Indian cooking, is a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.  Its bright orange color and spicy taste are testaments to its potency.  

Inflammation is an underlying cause of almost every chronic medical condition, from autoimmune conditions (including rheumatoid arthritis and lupus) to digestive disorders to depression to chronic pain.  

Turmeric is easy to incorporate into your daily life.  Here are a few examples:

  1.     Add 1/4 tsp of powdered turmeric to your morning smoothie
  2.     Use turmeric in your cooking.  
  3.     Take in capsule form.  The most absorbable form of turmeric is a product called Meriva.  Start 500mg, 2 times per day.  
  4.      Drink turmeric in a tea called golden milk.  Use hemp, almond or coconut milk instead of cows milk. 

Turmeric is best absorbed when it's consumed with fat, which is why it's usually taken with milk or food.
